Manchester track post win and loss

The Manchester High School track teams kicked off the season in different fashion April 10.

The boys' team won all but four events as it rolled to a 93-44 victory over the Adrian Madison Trojans. The girls' team ran into a strong Madison team and was dealt an 82-55 loss.
In the boys' meet, the Flying Dutchmen took first place in 13 of the 17 events.
Zach Greca won two events for Manchester, taking first in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.39 seconds and winning the 200 dash in 23.08. Jake LaCross won the 400 dash at 54.47 seconds, while William Heslip took the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 46.48.
Greg Schaible gave Manchester a victory in the 800 run (2:10.62) and Carl Wharam won the 3200 run (11:14.53) for the Dutchmen.
Manchester won four of the five field events. Brian Flahie won the discus with a throw of 123-6, while Jarod Sawyer took the high jump at 5-10. Brian Farghar scored a victory in the long jump (19-4.25) and Jesse Forner won the pole vault (10-6) for the boys' team.
The Dutchmen also won two relay races, taking the 3200 relay in 8:53 and winning the 1600 relay with a time of 3:40.33.
Ryon Barker (shot put, 38-4) and Rob Kaufman (110 hurdles, 17.42) were individual winners for Madison. The Trojans also won the 400 and 800-meter relays.
The Manchester girls' team took first place in five events.
Elizabeth Timoseyk won two races for the Flying Dutch. Timoseyk captured the 800 run with a time of 2:45.4 and won the 3200 run at 12:53.13.
Kyla Wilberding won the shot put with a throw of 28-10.5, while Laura Coltre recorded a 15-6 long jump for first place. Manchester won the 3200 relay in 10:50.83.
Hillary Cook and Kahty Angelova each won two events for Madison. Cook won the 100 dash (13.08) and 200 dash (28.68), while Angelova scored victories in the pole vault (10-0) and the 300 hurdles (53.71) for the Trojans.
Tuesday's Cascades Conference tri-meet at Michigan Center took place after our deadline. Both teams are scheduled to run in a tri-meet today at Vandercook Lake. Joining the Dutch and host Jayhawks is Hanover-Horton.
