The Flying Dutch lived up to the hype April 8 by sweeping the competition in their first outdoor meet of the season at Adrian Madison.

Manchester scored a 104-53 victory over the host Trojans and posted a 114-31 victory over Lenawee Christian. Meanwhile, the Manchester varsity boys track team earned a split at the tri-meet, blasting Lenawee Christian 102-52 and falling to Madison 97-64.

In the girls competition, Manchester (2-0) won 12 of the 17 events against Lenawee Christian and 14 of 17 events against the Trojans.

Liz Timoszyk and Laura Coltre each won two individual events against Madison. Timoszyk was first overall in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 6:01.42 and won the 3,200-meter run in 12:59.61. Coltre won the long jump against Madison with a distance of 15-6. The senior also took first in the 100-meter dash in 13.99 seconds.

Kyla Wilberding placed first overall in the shot put for Manchester, recording a toss of 29-10. The Dutch were also first overall in three of the four relay events, winning the 3,200-meter (11:06.08), the 800-meter (1:53.4) and 1,600-meter (4:29.92) events.

Madison won three events. Morgan McNeil captured the pole vault with a 7-6 jump, while Carrie Zubke won the 400-meter dash in 1:02.57. The Madison girls 400-relay team ran a time of 55.17 seconds, giving the Trojans another win.

Chelsea Durham won two individual events to lead Lenawee Christian. She won the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.45 seconds and took the 200-meter dash in 27.58 seconds.

The Manchester boys team won 13 of the 17 events against Lenawee Christian, but only took seven events against Madison.

Nick Ross, Carl Wharam, Brian Fargher and James Hughes each placed first overall in an individual event for the Dutchmen. Ross captured the shot put with a toss of 43-feet, while Wharam captured the 1,600-meter run in 4:53.39. Fargher ran the 400-meter dash in 53.57 seconds for another victory and Hughes won the 800-meter run for Manchester with a time of 2:08.58.

The Dutchmen also scored victories in the 800-meter relay (1:36.21) and the 1,600-meter relay (3:51.56).

Jesse DeLaGarza won two individual events to lead Madison. He captured the long jump with a distance of 19-10 3/4 and captured the 200-meter dash in 23.08 seconds.

Spencer Perry recorded a 6-0 high jump to give Lenawee Christian a victory. The Cougars other win came from Will Brown, who won the 3,200-meter run with a time of 11:14.2.

The Manchester boys and girls track teams began defense of their respective Cascades Conference championships Wednesday with a tri-meet at Vandercook Lake after the newspaper's deadline.
