She married Arthur J. Herrst Sr. in 1934 in Wyandotte. They moved to Manchester in 1969.
Mrs. Herrst was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years in 1969, and three sons, Walter, Richard and Paul.
She is survived by her children, Arthur Jr. (Kathryn), Clayton (Mary Lou), Mary Ann (Herm) Coval and Dennis (Linda) Herrst; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
A talented seamstress, Mrs. Herrst made many lap robes for veterans, and each family member had received the gift of a handmade quilt. She also greatly enjoyed fishing at the lake and shared this joy with all of her grandchildren.
An avid card player, Mrs. Herrst enjoyed this activity, as well as traveling and playing in a "kitchen" band with the Chelsea Senior Citizens.
A healing farewell service was held Saturday beginning with prayers at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Jenter Chapel, in Manchester followed by Mass at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Manchester.
Interment was at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be given to St. Mary's Catholic Church for memorial masses or to Arbor Hospice. Envelopes are available at Borek Jennings.
