If you have a pleasant personality, a desire to help people and a good driving record, the Manchester Area Senior Citizens would like a word with you.

The nonprofit agency is looking for volunteers to boost its staff of drivers for senior center activities.
"We need some help driving seniors to various places and delivering meals on Tuesdays and Thursdays," said Senior Center President Marion Ahrens.
The job requires a commercial driver's license, but that is not an insurmountable obstacle.
"The senior center will pay for the physical exam and the CDL endorsement," Ahrens said.
Senior Center Transportation Director Howard Parr said drivers would receive training for the small bus the senior center uses.
"They have to have a CDL; it's not the same as school bus drivers, but they have to have training in what to do with passengers," he said.
"We can break in a beginner, but there is a training and observation period."
Drivers also would be trained in operating the wheelchair lift on the bus.
There is a schedule for drivers to follow, but it constantly changes based on the variety of activities.
"They would drive the bus for four hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays to bring them in for meals, deliver meals, take them shopping and take them home again," Parr said.
"There are other unscheduled medical appointments that we have to provide for to Chelsea, Ann Arbor, Jackson or wherever."
The number of hours per week varies with the demands on the system, Parr said, but it is definitely a part-time rather than full-time job.
"It's not a difficult job; it's not like driving a school bus," Parr said.
There currently are four drivers, but Ahrens and Parr said they could use at least that many more.
"We could certainly use more help; that would work out well," Ahrens said.
