Dutch girls place seventh at cheerleading regionals

The Manchester High School competitive cheer team concluded its season March 3 by placing seventh in the Division 4 regional meet at Hudson High School.

The Flying Dutch and Adrian Madison both finished with 566.5 points, tying for seventh in the 18-team event.
Host Hudson won the regional title with 712.9 points, finishing well ahead of second-place Michigan Center's 662.2. Napoleon was third with 646 points.
Manchester finished just 9.6 points behind fourth-place East Jackson (576.1). Clinton scored 573.6 for fifth, while Lutheran Westland took sixth with 568.
The Flying Dutch were sixth overall after scoring 161.5 points in the first round. After managing 150.5 in the second round, Manchester capped its performance by scoring 254.5 in the final competition.
Manchester experienced an injury during the third round, forcing the team to leave the competition floor and return later to finish without its full roster.
Hudson pulled away for the championship after scoring 301 points in the final round, while Michigan Center clinched second place with 287 points.
Members of the Manchester Flying Dutch competitive cheer team include Sarah Barnett, Katelyn Spring, Brook Fraley, Claire Simpson, Lorelei Baron, Myra Sandford, Raven Webster, Sienna Miller, Lacey Brewington, Jamie Baird, Danielle Winalis, Deanna Uhr, Maggie Sikora and Kim Ticknor. The team is coached by Shelle Spaulding.
