School groups plan board candidate forum

Three candidates to vie for two seats on Manchester school board

The Klager Elementary School Parent-Teacher Organization and Manchester Middle School Parent-Teacher-Student Association are co-sponsoring a forum to allow the public to meet the four local candidates for school board.

The forum will take place 7 p.m. April 17 in the school board meeting room in the Ackerson Building, 410 City Road, in Manchester.

The community is being encouraged to submit questions for the candidates in writing in advance of the meeting.

This will allow the candidates to prepare themselves on those issues.

Incumbent board Treasurer Lyndon Uphaus is joined by Christine Fegan, Dara Psarouthakis and Tara Lamirand in running for two seats on the Manchester Board of Education in the May 8 election.

Current Trustee Polly Jo Deacons decided against seeking another term.

Questions for the candidates may be submitted to mmsptsa@gmail.com, klagerpto@yahoo.com; or dropped off at the school board mailbox in front of the Ackerson Building.

"I would hope that the community wants to learn more about the candidates and make sure they are representing all our interests in these complicated financial times," said Theresa Herron, a member of both the PTO and PTSA.

"I'm glad the seats aren't running unopposed because that gives us a choice as voters."

For more information about the forum, call Herron at 428-7718.
