The Level 7 team from the Dexter-based Champion Gymnastics scored 110.4 points in the meet. The organization also had two athletes compete individually for the Level 8 team, while another gymnast competed at Level 9.
Galya Traskos (Dexter) led the way for the Level 7 team, scoring 36.75 overall points to place fourth in the all around individual competition. Traskos took first place on the uneven parallel bars with a score of 9.6. She also placed third on the balance beam with 8.9 and finished fourth in the floor exercise event with 9.275.
Champion's Taylor Livingston was fifth overall after scoring 36.725 on the day. She took second place on the vault with 9.3 and was fifth on the bars with 9.4. She scored 9.225 points in the floor exercise to place sixth.
Denae Wilce (Saline) finished the event with an overall score of 36.475, including a third place finish on the balance beam (9.275), fourth place in the floor exercise (9.3) and a score of 9.075 in the vault event. Jaime Uren (Dexter), a first-year Level 7 competitor scored 9.1 on the vault and 9.15 on the bars, while Morgan Taylor (Grass Lake) earned a fifth-place finish on the uneven bars.
Stephanie Lim and Claire Tewksbury, both from Dexter, represented Champion Gymnastics in the Level 8 competition. Tewksbury competed in all four events and finished fourth overall with a score of 35.375. Lim participated in three Level 8 events for Champion, while Alyssa Young (Chelsea) competed in four events at Level 9.
In order to compete as a team in USA Gymnastics events, at least three gymnasts must be scored in each event.
The Champion Gymnastics teams have enjoyed plenty of success recently. In February, the Level 7 team placed ninth overall out of 3,000 teams in the world's largest gymnastics event at Navy Pier in Chicago. The Level 7 team also earned a sixth-place finish at the Cereal City meet in Battle Creek.
