Sheler named Student of the Month

The Optimist Student of the Month for the month of February is Katelyn Sheler. Sheler is the daughter of Mark Sheler and Wendy Sheler-Allen. She is currently a senior at Manchester High School.

Sheler is a member of the National Honor Society and vice president of the Spanish Club. She is an active member in her youth group at Community Bible Church of Manchester. She is currently leading a Bible study on Tuesday evenings. Over the summer she went on a mission trip to Peru for two weeks.
Sheler is currently involved in Manchester's school play, "Grease." As a freshman and sophomore she played volleyball where she was awarded the sportsmanship award each year. She was a member of the Manchester varsity cross country team her senior year and received the sportsmanship award. Sheler has also participated in track for four years. She has been a scholar athlete every season.
Sheler plans on attending Marshall University in the fall. She has received the John Laidley Scholarship at Marshall University. She plans on double majoring in elementary education and mathematics.
In the future, Sheler wants to become a missionary in a South American country.
