The 33-year-old woman, whose identity was not released by prosecutors to protect the identity of the 7-year-old victim, was bound over to Washtenaw County Trial Court following her preliminary examination Feb. 13.
Steve Hiller, deputy chief assistant prosecutor for Washtenaw County, said the woman posted a $30,000 surety bond and was scheduled to appear before Trial Court Judge Donald E. Shelton 1:30 p.m. March 27.
The charges stem from separate incidents that allegedly occurred in December. Each count carries a sentence of up to life in prison.
The girl and her 15-year-old brother remain with their maternal grandparents in Manchester, where they were placed after being removed from their home by Child Protective Services after the mother's arrest.
The children's father, the woman's ex-husband, said county authorities are working with him in the best interests of the children.
"Protective Services, foster care and the prosecuting attorney's office are all involved in this right now," he said.
"I know they are pushing to get them in my care as soon as possible."
