Despite making a late rally and getting contributions throughout their lineup, the Flying Dutch were dealt a 61-47 loss to the Hanover-Horton Comets in a Cascades Conference game Feb. 7.
Manchester fell into an early hole and was forced to play catch-up the entire game. The Comets built a nine-point lead by the end of the first quarter, then remained hot on offense with a 21-point second quarter.
Hanover-Horton carried a 37-17 lead into halftime.
The Dutch had a better second half. After playing even with the Comets in the third quarter, Manchester erupted for 19 points in the fourth. The Dutch made a small run to get back within striking distance, but Hanover-Horton prevented them from cutting the lead down to single digits.
For the game, Manchester grabbed 35 rebounds and forced the Comets into 24 turnovers.
Taylor Parks finished with 12 points, five rebounds and six steals to lead the Flying Dutch. Amanda Davis added eight points and three steals, while Kristen Lewis had six points, three rebounds and three steals. Tabitha Withrow scored five points and grabbed eight rebounds. The Dutch traveled to Grass Lake for a league game after the newspaper's deadline Tuesday. Manchester plays its final game of the season Friday when it hosts East Jackson.

Trailing by nine after three quarters, the Flying Dutch rallied with an 18-4 run in the fourth quarter to take the victory.
Manchester struggled early in the game, and Blissfield built a 12-6 lead after the first quarter. The teams played an even second quarter, but the Royals extended their lead to 39-30 by the end of the third before the Dutch came to life.
