The Flying Dutchmen continued their dominance on the mat Jan. 31 by going 2-0 in a Cascades Conference tri-meet at Hanover-Horton High School.
Manchester blasted Michigan Center 78-0, then rolled over the host Comets 72-6.
Against Michigan Center, the Dutchmen picked up six wins by void, but scored pins in the other eight matches.
Five of the pinfalls came in the first period, including four in the upper weights. Bill Cloke (160), Kyler Ritter (189), Dan Lobbestael (215) and Joe Sawyer (heavyweight) each scored a pin in the opening two minutes for Manchester.
Mike Garrison also recorded a pin in the first period of the 119 match. Scott Conway (130) and Dustin Catalano (135) also recorded victories by pinfall.
Ryan Lannom (140) competed in his first match since returning from an injury and scored a pin.
"(Lannom) will help the team in the future," Manchester coach Steve Vlcek said.
The Dutchmen continued their success against Hanover-Horton, scoring pins in eight of the nine matches wrestled. Garrison, Conway, Cloke, Cevin Walker and Jason Alber each scored a first-period fall for Manchester.
The younger wrestlers got into the act for the Dutchmen against Hanover. Coyle Render, Dakota Ladouceur and Tyler King each gave Manchester pinfall victories. King needed just 42 seconds to score his victory, while Ladouceur's match also ended in the opening period.
"We wrestled some of our younger kids and they responded great," Vlcek said. "I was very pleased."
The Dutchmen hosted state-ranked Hudson and Brooklyn Columbia Central in a quad meet last night. The meet took place after our deadline.
The Cascades Conference meet will take place 4 p.m. Friday at Michigan Center starting. Manchester will then host both the team and individual district tournaments. The team event takes place Feb. 14, while the individual meet is scheduled for Feb. 17.
"All of the kids wrestled well overall and seem to be getting ready for the following weeks," Vlcek said.
