Milton "Rusty" Grossman, 87, of Clinton died Jan. 28, 2008 at Bixby Medical Center in Adrian. He was born in Manchester on Sept. 12, 1920, the son of George and Matilda (Schaible) Grossman. On June 26, 1948 he married Donna Jacob and she survives.
Mr. Grossman was a lifelong area farmer and worked for Clinton Engines as a painter for 18 years and then worked for Hoover Uniloy and Johnson Controls for 27 years until he retired in 1989. He was on the Clinton Volunteer Fire Department for many years and was a member of the Emmanuel United Church of Christ in Manchester and attended Clinton United Church of Christ for many years. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge #148 F. and A.M. in Manchester.
Mr. Grossman was an avid card player, bowler and outdoorsman who enjoyed watching wildlife and "his" squirrels. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his wife Donna, he is survived by his two sons: Bruce (Sylvia) Grossman of Chelsea and Thomas (Teresa) Grossman of Clinton; four daughters: Deborah Grossman of Manchester, Kay (John) O'Conner of Watford City, N.D., JoAnn (Martin) McDaniel of Bat Cave, N.C., and Becky Cyrus of LaGrange, Ohio; sister Ruth Goodell of Manchester, 19 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Roland and George Jr., and two sisters: Marie and Gertrude.
At his request, cremation has taken place and a memorial service was held on Feb. 4 at the Clinton Church of Christ with Pastor Tom Uphaus officiating.
Burial of the cremated remains was held at Oakgrove Cemetery in Manchester.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Emmanuel United Church of Christ in Manchester or to the Clinton United Methodist Church. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.handlerfuneralhomes.com.
