The Flying Dutchmen finished nine points out of first in the 18-team event, which included five state-ranked teams.

Dan Lobbestael went 4-0 on the day to win the heavyweight weight class. His four victories give him 38 on the season. Lobbestael was named the Most Valuable Wrestler for the upper weight classes.

Jason Alber and Kyler Ritter each went 3-1 on the day and placed second in their weight classes. Alber (189) scored two pins and a major decision, bringing his season win total to 35. Ritter (215) now has 29 victories on the year.

Scott Conway scored his 99th career victory as he placed second in the 130 weight class. Conway finished with a 3-1 record on the day.

Cevin Walker (125) placed third in his weight class with a 3-1 record. Walker also reached the 30-win mark in the tournament.

Mike Garrison placed fourth in the 119 weight class for Manchester, while Jimmy Hamilton (103) went 4-1 in his division to place fifth. All four of Hamilton's victories came by pinfall.

Mike Steenson (171) and Coyle Render (112) each placed sixth in their respective divisions. Steenson went 3-2 and earned a medal in his third different weight class this season, while Render finished 2-2 for the Dutchmen.

Joe Sawyer (heavyweight) competed in his first varsity tournament for Manchester, finishing with a 1-2 record on the day.

Quad at Napoleon

The Flying Dutchmen won both duals in Wednesday's Cascades Quad meet, defeating East Jackson 48-24 and downing host Napoleon 48-25.

Against East Jackson, Dan Lobbestael (275) opened the match with a pin, followed by Jimmy Hamilton's 14-4 decision victory in the 103 match.

Coyle Render (112), Mike Garrison (119), Scott Conway (130) and Kyler Ritter (215) each recorded first-period pins for Manchester.

Cevin Walker, Bill Cloke, Jason Alber and Mike Steenson each scored a decision victory to lead the Dutchmen past East Jackson.

Manchester won six of its matches against Napoleon by pinfall.

Lobbestael, Hamilton, Conway, Cloke, Alber and Ritter each recorded a pinfall for the Dutchmen, which moved its record to 20-6 overall, 3-1 in the Cascades Conference.

Hudson Tournament

Dan Lobbestael and Jason Alber each placed second in their weight classes and helped Manchester finished fourth overall in the 18-team Hudson Tournament.

Alber won his first two matches convincingly to advance to the finals of the 215 weight class, including a 9-2 victory in the semifinals. Alber fell short in the finals, dropping a 4-2 decision.

Lobbestael ran through his first two opponents in the heavyweight division before falling 1-0 in triple overtime in the championship match.

"This was a great indicator for the team to see where we're at," Manchester coach Steve Vlcek said.

Kyler Ritter wrestled at 189 for the first time this season and placed third in the event. Mike Steenson (171) also placed third after going 3-1 on the day.

Cevin Walker (119) went 2-2 on the day, placing fourth in his class. Bill Cloke (160) went 3-1, with all three wins coming by pin, finishing sixth.

Coyle Render (112) and Mike Garrison (119) both finished 1-2 on the day for the Dutchmen.
