"I'm pleased, we got a lot of nice comments about it," said CRC Executive Director Chris Kanta.
"What was most surprising was I got calls from people who didn't attend (the banquet), telling me they heard about how wonderful it was."
The silent auction netted $880 on a wide variety of donated items, many of which were handmade by local residents.
With the theme of "Scoring a touchdown for the community," the auction also featured items to appeal to sports enthusiasts, such as Detroit Red Wings and Detroit Pistons game tickets and a football autographed by University of Michigan Coach Lloyd Carr.
Auction organizer Vicki Miller was impressed with the quality of items.
"We had some excellent pieces, a lot of handmade work," she said. "I thought it did very well."
CRC Treasurer Jean Nemecek said the auction was very successful.
"I thought it was a wonderful selection and there was a lot of interest," Nemecek said.
The Rev. Carter Garrigues-Cortelyou, CRC board president, was pleased at the overall turnout for the banquet, and particularly at the number of volunteers, 20, who were honored.
"It was a packed house again," he said.
"Certainly, the number of folks to be recognized and their length of service to the community was just outstanding.
"It's always a wonderful night," he said.
