Zagila leads frosh hoops

Freshman accounts for half of Manchester's score in 50-48 loss

Manchester's freshman boys' basketball team lost to host Vandercook Lake 50-48 Jan. 5. The Jayhawks tipped in the winning basket as time expired for the victory.

Logan Zagila led the Flying Dutchmen with 25 points and four assists.

Ryan Lenhart added eight points, while Rob Carver and Luke Weber each grabbed eight rebounds for Manchester.

"I'm proud of the progress we're making," said Manchester coach Brad Gerbe. "We're really learning how to execute."

On Dec. 28, the host Flying Dutchmen defeated Adrian Madison 40-37 in the championship game of the Holiday Tournament.

Zagila paced Manchester with 24 points.

Carver finished with seven points and eight rebounds, while Weber had seven boards for the Dutch.

"They were down by 12 at the half, but the boys really wanted it," Gerbe said. "They fought hard."

On Dec. 27, Manchester defeated Whitmore Lake 40-28 in its opening game of the Holiday Tournament.

Zagila led the Dutch with 20 points.

Carver added seven points and five rebounds, while Brent Schriber had six rebounds for Manchester.
