The village council approved the payment of $10,000 to Tetra Tech for compensation of additional days worked during the council's Jan. 7 meeting.
According to Ted Erickson, senior project manager, the compensation of the extra time was inadvertently omitted from the company's original budget, which was based on the project being completed by Nov. 8, 2007. Work on Hibbard Street continued until Nov. 23, 2007 in which eight additional days were included in the time frame.
Despite some parts of the project that can't be completed until the spring, the compensation covers this extended construction period and project management only.
"We will do the work no matter what," Erickson told the council.
Of the compensation, $8,000 is due to the eight-day extension of the construction time. The remaining $2,000 goes toward project management time.
Two of the eight days were for the additional height of the block wall located near Manchester Manor. The designed height was finished within the original construction period.
Two other days covered an additional storm sewer that was added during the original time frame, while two more days were for the contractor to work around utilities (gas mains, cable and electric) that weren't in the location provided by the utility companies.
One day went towards the replacement of the sanitary manhole located at the Hibbard-Duncan Street intersection, which was requested by the village and another day was spent working on the sidewalk between the street and the Village Hall.
