Christopher Kala Kemner, 26, of Manchester died Jan. 4, 2007. He was born June 12, 1980, in Ann Arbor the son of David and Eloise (Birtodaso) Kemner.
Mr. Kemner graduated from Manchester High School in 1998, attended Western Michigan University and graduated from the Douglas J. Aveda Institute in Ann Arbor in February 2006, receiving a cosmetology license in May 2006. He was a member of the Emanuel United Church of Christ in Manchester, the TKE fraternity and was an Eagle Scout.
Survivors include his parents; his brother, Brad (Hollie) Kemner of Battle Creek; aunts and uncles, John (Colleen) Kemner of Manchester, Sharlene (Raymond) Jeffries of Aurora, Colo., and Eloy (Patty) Birtodaso of Mililani, Hawaii; and cousins, Matthew and Maddison Kemner, Michael and Pualani Jeffries, Elizabeth and Eddie Birtodaso, Sharolynne Pitz and Kanani Estonillo.
Mr. Kemner was preceded in death by his grandparents, Paul and Helen Kemner, and Eloy and Dolores Birtodaso.
He will be remembered most for his wonderful smile, his big Hawaiian heart and his love for music, his family said.
A celebration of his life was held Tuesday at Emanuel United Church of Christ in Manchester. The Rev. Gary Kwiatek officiated. Burial was at Oak Grove Cemetery in Manchester.

NANCY (PATTON) CREECH

Nancy (Patton) Creech, 85, of Jackson, formerly of Manchester, died Dec. 21, 2006, and went home to be with Jesus, her family said.
She was born July 15, 1921, in Swampton, Ky., the daughter of John and Betty (Fletcher) Patton.
Mrs. Creech worked for many years at the Double A plant in Manchester. She loved to go shopping, read and spend time with her great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed dancing and playing bingo.
For many years, she lived in Napoleon with her daughter, Sandra Bunney, until she needed more involved care. In 2004, she moved to Jackson County Medical Care Facility, where its compassionate staff took wonderful care of her for the last 2 1/2 years of her life, her family said.
Mrs. Creech's family enjoyed weekly visits with her, and will deeply miss her laughter and her smile.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin; daughter, Sharon; son-in-law, Art; grandson, Daniel; great-grandson, Matthew; and 13 brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Creech will be deeply missed by her four children, Sandra (Richard) Bunney, Bonnie Harper, Benjamin "Russ" (Shannon) Creech and Deborah (James) Miller; nine grandchildren, Connie (Tom) Ross, Randy Stidham, Brenda (Daniel) Olinger, Heather (Chris) McCarthy, Heidi (Steve Hutchinson) Whitt, Kattie (Michael) Blevins, Greg Sroufe, Dawn Dixon-Bey and Karen Bivins; four step-grandchildren, Jeffrey Miller, James Miller, DeAnna (James) Storemski and Erica Slusher; 16 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.
Mrs. Creech was a member of the North Sharon Baptist Church, where a memorial service to celebrate her life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Bobby Toler will officiate.
Private burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery in Manchester.
